Tsk Tsk....
TI OMAP processors on the Melody and Artemis? What were they thinking?!?! Why do they make such stupid errors? I just don't get their strategy.... Any word on Universal 2 or has it completely been scrapped as i was told by my source? So, is the TyTn as good as it gets for the next 2 years? If thats the case, then i must say i am disappointed with the lack of creativity at HTC. Nothing revolutionary and absolutely nothing that makes you sit up and take notice like with the Universal... I have said it before and i will say it again....OMAP 200 MHz processors are meant for the smartphones and smartphones ALONE!!! I understand battery life is a concern but if they can put a 400 MHz processor in the TyTyn, they can certainly put one in Artemis and Melody... Geez.... |

You know, that whole OMAP battery sales pitch is a bunch of shit for HoFo wanna'be simpletons to convince themselves that they have a "Bleeding EDGE" device. I've always said get me through a day of hard use is all a PPC convergence device should have to do. How freak'n hard is it to plug in at night? My experience with the TyTn is that it out performs my Star Trek in use with a larger battery, screen with touch control and faster processor running a more robust OS.
As for "BIG NEWS", the Excaliber and Trinity should be the biggest. The Excaliber is the HTC interpretation of the Motorola "Q" and the SamSung i320 messaging SmartPhones. Super thin and one-handed QWERTY board. The Trinity will be the Road Warrior's choice with the other models filling a "niche". Melody couldn't be a closer Windows competitor to the SE W950i.... Wish I could fix the images Docc.... I got them in the "streatched" condition. Gives it a certain "forbidden access" character don't you think??? As for the next Universal I believe it will be next year. Loof for a similar form factor only thinner with a upgraded camera, internal hardrive or flash memory with Micro-SD external memory. I don't think a "True Convergence" device will come out of HTC because of the company's "Chosen Son" status with MicroSoft. I don't think MicroSoft wants to see full OS convergence devices running around... |

I agree Mark, the HoFo'ers certainly seem to have a problem with charging their device once a day. If i a device can be put through hell the whole day and still be "alive" at the end of the day, then thats good enough for me...
Regarding the images, sorry i couldn't figure that out myself! (Doh!) I don't know about the Universal 2 Mark. I had a good chat with an insider who really knows his/her stuff. So there never might be a Universal 2 afterall (Sob!). I am just hoping that i am completely wrong on this one!!! Hey Mark, i am considering getting the TyTn from Haider and currently have a Qtek 8500/Jasjar combo. Don't know if i can justify spending 800 bucks for another device especially considering the fact that it doesn't offer much over the other devices. But i am itching for a new device and seeing the HTC Roadmap, there really isn't anything there that makes me go lub dub lub dub!!! What say? Cheers! |

Hehe.... Just for you Docc I have replaced the photos with some I think you will enjoy more from the Road Map..... As you can see... the TyTn and MTeoR are the class of the HTC line up with the Melody being a clone of SE's W950 even with 4Gb of flash memory, Excaliber is a Motorola Q, and so on...and so on...
My personal opinion is that the TyTn is the last device you would need for at least the next 2 years. Its fast, economical battery life, and a hardware glutton. The Star Trek is my favorite for fashion...don't see anything gonna beat my "Pink Pussy P.I.M.P'n" phone.......and the MTeoR was absolutely the best Windows SmartPhone you can buy. Get the Dopod version for the video conference camera. For me, the Universal vs. TyTn is a clear choice...... but what that choice is???? Well, you'll have to wait till I'm finished with my "Rise of the Machines II" review!! LoL!! (I think we both know what it is though )Hint Hint.... if gadget mania is killing you....... and a fix is what you need.....get the Dopod version..... its Da'Shit!! |

Damn!!!!
Now thats what i am talking about!!! Thanks for the fix Mark, much more easier on the eyes now :D Well, i already know who's gonna kick butt in the ROTM II review! But see, thats the thing, the TyTn really doesn't do it for me and the Mteor is definitely not my cup of tea. The Qtek 8500 is the first smartphone that made me consider the OS, otherwise i never even thought about the smartphone form-factor!!! From the roadmap, its obvious that Trinity is the only device that offers Tri-Band 3G and HSPDA other than the TyTn which is sad cos i was hoping that maybe it will become a standard in most of the high-tech devices...I wonder what else HTC have up their sleeve....(scratches chin) Oh well, i will read your ROTM II review and then decided if i should drop 800 bucks on the TyTn or not...Out of curiosity, when is the review going to be ready? Any chance of a sneak peek? :D You really have spoilt us you know....:D Cheers! |

Mark,
I was just going through Trinity's deets and noticed that is says "GPS/A-GPS". Does that mean, it has both or does that mean they still haven't decided to put in it yet? From what i have heard A-GPS sucks because you need to constantly update the satellites details via a wireless connection. Thats going to be a major pain if thats the case. An example of a device that supports A-GPS already is the HP 6515. I certainly hope that they use GPS instead of A-GPS. Oh and Artemis is for release in Q3? Its already Q3 and no details available yet... Docc. |

I just ordered the MTeoR from http://www.samstores.com/details.asp?ProdID=6598 It seems they jacked up the price from the $473 that I ordered at yesterday to the new price today. We'll see if I actually receive my unit for the $473. They claim its shipping from Hong Kong today. I was looking for the version with the video conference camera but couldn't find it. Do you have a link to where this is available? Also, I wasn't sure when I ordered but it seems the MTeoR will be able to run on either Cingular's UMTS or HSDPA 3G network, can anyone confirm? Thanks, David |
